C Series Firetube - Steel Boiler
The Burnham Commercial C Series compact packaged boiler was designed using our years of boiler experience and is sold and serviced through the largest and most experienced network of sales representatives in the country. With a complete commercial product offering and unmatched sales and technical support, it’s no wonder why we are America’s Boiler Company! The C Series Firetube boiler is fully packaged and designed to provide maximum cost and energy efficiency. The C Series boiler fits through any standard 36” x 80” doorway, eliminating the need for any costly building alterations or difficult site assemblies. This convenient size allows for easier and less expensive retrofit or upgrade of an existing boiler room. A forced-draft unit, the C Series avoids the expense of a tall stack and is much more economical to operate and install than atmospheric-fired boilers. The forced draft creates a more controlled combustion, and a more thorough mixture of fuel and air is achieved resulting in optimum efficiency. Other design features help maintain this durability and economy over the years. While the original efficiency of some other boilers can decrease when outer wrappers develop air leaks and tubes cannot be cleaned thoroughly, the C Series overcomes these problems. Built to ASME standards, its outer shell of heavy welded steel boilerplate and extra heavy tube sheets assure the continued airtight conditions necessary for efficient combustion. Opening the front flue door allows convenient access to the firetubes. By brushing out all of the firetubes, the original efficiency of the boiler is restored in a matter of minutes. All tube ends are rolled in accordance with the ASME code and are inspected for hydraulic tightness by an independent insurance inspector, prior to shipping.
Series 3 Firetube Boiler
While most competitive boilers can give fuel-to-steam efficiencies of 80% or over when they are new — how consistently can they be expected to maintain this level? Burnham Commercial wetback boiler performance will not drop due to deteriorating rear refractory, leaking door baffles and seals, and heat-stressed rear tube sheet as can happen with some drybacks: the fact is that easy access is a necessity for those with heavy refractory, as they need frequent, expert maintenance. Over the life of a dryback, brittle refractory baffling and rear door gasketing will require continual monitoring, maintenance, and replacement, costing thousands upon thousands of dollars. These built-in maintenance coats can eventually equal or exceed the original cost of the boiler as refractory deteriorates, leaking hot gas causes boiler efficiency to fall until the condition is noticed and repairs can be made (expensive flue temperature alarms are offered with some drybacks to monitor this dangerous and costly potentiality). The rear door itself can become heat-distorted, requiring an expensive replacement. In addition, boiler downtime during repairs can mean crippling losses. This waste of time and money is eliminated with the Burnham Commercial Wetback: as it has an actively functional water jacket, there is no need for a refractory wall, rear door, rear door inspection and sealing, door swing space in the boiler room, or flue temperature alarm. These costly maintenance headaches are gone, while boiler performance is increased. Burnham Commercial has only a small, inexpensive refractory area in the rear access port. The furnace and rear turn around area are cool running, fully wetbacked radiant heat transfer surfaces. They promote good internal water circulation and rapid heat absorption. There is no need for the forced internal circulation pumps often specified to cool the rear tube-sheets in dry backs.
Series 4S - Steel Boiler
The Series 4S uses the very latest design techniques and standards. Its furnace, the workhorse of the boiler, is designed for low volumetric release rates of no more than 136,000 btu/hr/cu.ft. The lower the release rates, the “easier” your boiler works. As your boiler works easier, less stress is put upon the steel, tube ends, refractory, etc., resulting in a longer lasting boiler. In addition to longevity, a larger furnace makes for ease in firing using any selected burner vendor. The Series 4S is also easily converted to a Low NOx product when needed. The Burnham Commercial Series 4S design produces a higher efficiency due to the larger furnace and higher heat transfer design. Series 4FH - Steel Boiler
It is a compact boiler that fits where other designs of similar capacity cannot. Available for 15 PSI steam and 30 or 60 PSI water*, the 4FH can serve perfectly as the heart of almost any system. As it is forced-draft fired, no tall, expensive stack is required. And because it is a factory-assembled, packaged unit, expensive jobsite time and labor are reduced. *60 PSI water boiler available in sizes 4FH-63 through 4FH-993. The furnace surrounds the flame with highly efficient waterbacked primary heat-absorbing surfaces. This large combustion chamber is easy to fire, accommodating many forced-draft burners without flame impingement or other critical firing problems. Forced-draft firing makes the 4FH inherently more efficient than boilers using outmoded atmospheric burners, and gives you a feature that atmospheric units cannot offer: the option of burning gas or oil. A dual-fired burner allows you to burn the more economical fuel or the most readily available fuel at the flip of a switch, and affords you leverage in negotiating fuel prices. The 4FH is an economical heat source, whether used singly or in multiples. In fact, 4FHs with modulating burners may be sequenced to operate in a step-fired system more cost effectively than a large number of residential-sized boilers when ongoing maintenance costs are considered.
Series 4N Boiler - Steel Boiler
Three-pass boiler constructed and stamped in accordance with Section IV of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for 15 psi steam and 30 psi water with separate base, rear smoke outlet (top outlet available when specified), gas tight front flue cleanout door, rear observation port 63A through 345A, rear access door with observation port 397A and larger, lifting lugs 127A and larger. Burner opening in front head (base refractory or combustion equipment is not supplied by Burnham Commercial). Firedoor(s) in front head; hinged flue door, all sizes; ashpit door in base (Stoker not supplied by Burnham Commercial). Same as stoker fired (Grate sets not supplied by Burnham Commercial).
MPC Series - Cast Iron Boiler
The Multi-Pass Commercial Boiler (MPC) is loaded with innovative features that are unsurpassed by any other boiler in the industry. Take a close look at the MPC, and there is no question that it is setting the new standard for USA-made commercial cast iron boilers. Multi-pass boilers operate differently than more conventional single or double-pass boilers. A multi-pass boiler, such as the MPC, directs flue gases through multiple combustion chamber passes, extracting the maximum amount of heat out of the hot boiler flue gases. With single or double-pass boilers, the burner fires into a combustion chamber, then the hot flue gases pass upward between the sections (usually through a pinned or baffled flueway) and out into the venting. The MPC directs flue gases into several smaller passes, which allows the sections to absorb more heat than if the flue gases just passed through the boiler sections one time. The MPC is also available with Burnham Commercial’s newest control, the SBC™ control, which provides complete boiler control capability at the fraction of the price of a comparable system. The SBC control is a combination operating and staging control that will control up to 8 fully modulating boilers and is available as a factory-wired package installed in any Power Flame, full mod burner, with an RM7897A or better Honeywell flame safeguard. The SBC control can save money by reducing installation time and reducing the number of controls required to control your boiler. The SBC control also saves money by firing the boiler(s) at the precise rate of modulation to meet the building load while limiting short-cycling.
V11H Series - Cast Iron Boiler
Available in 20 sizes with gross output ratings from 667 to 4,551 MBH, the V11H Series is commonly used in large commercial applications where heating requirements demand a high-capacity boiler. The V11H is available with nearly unlimited control configurations, making it ideal for simple or the most complicated installations. V11H boiler sections have reinforced lugs that are used to assemble the sections with individual draw rods, resulting in fast, strain-free assembly. Having individual draw rods means the boiler can be assembled one section at a time, using simple hand tools, including a combination or open-end wrench and 3/4-inch drive ratchet. Like all Burnham Commercial cast iron boilers, the V11H is assembled using durable cast iron nipples, which expand and contract along with the boiler sections, ensuring a water-tight seal for many years of reliable service. Nipples are impervious to boiler flue gases and petroleum based chemicals, including corrosion inhibitors, pump lubricants, and anti-freeze. V11H sections are made at Burnham Foundry, LLC, in Zanesville, Ohio. Working closely with Burnham Foundry allows Burnham Commercial to respond quickly to customers’ needs. We always have the castings that we need to fill orders and meet customer deadlines.
V9A Series - Cast Iron Boiler
The Burnham Commercial V9A boiler is ideal for use in commercial installations because it is versatile enough to meet specific job requirements. The V9A provides the durability of a cast iron boiler, assembled with the time-proven integrity of cast iron nipples. The sectional design of the V9A makes it easy to maneuver and install in existing boiler rooms. A packaged and fire tested V9A will fit through a standard 36-inch doorway and will fit into a confined area, requiring only 9-inches from a right-side wall and 6-1/2 feet of vertical clearance. The V9A can also be factory fire tested before shipment in order to reduce the time and expense of setting up the burner on the job site. Knockdown V9A Series boilers were designed to be assembled one section at a time, using individual draw rods, a 1-1/16” ratchet and combination or open-end wrench. The sections are surface ground to ensure smooth mating. An elastic sealant and fiberglass rope are used on all section joints for a completely sealed and pressure-tight assembly. As with all Burnham Commercial cast iron products, the V9A is assembled using precision-machined cast iron push nipples, which ensure the most reliable watertight seal. Nipples are machined to exact tolerances so that when pressed into the nipple ports of the sections, they will conform to the shape of the ports. Unlike gaskets, nipples are impervious to breakdown from hot flue gases or petroleum based chemicals, including corrosion inhibitors, pump lubricants and antifreeze.
8H & 8HE Series - Cast Iron Boiler
The Series 8H/8HE boiler is ideal for large residential and light commercial water boiler applications. The compact design makes it easy to transport through a standard 36-inch doorway and the small footprint means it will fit into most boiler rooms. The 8H/8HE has standard safety features such as a blocked vent switch and a flame rollout switch which automatically shuts down the boiler if the chimney or flue passages become restricted. Other manufacturers charge extra for these safety controls. Modular/Multiple boiler systems put the efficiency, cost and service advantages of compact gas boilers to work in heating application where a single commercial boiler would not be efficient. The systems connect any number of compact, self-contained gas boilers together and stage fire them to efficiently meet heating loads on demand.
5B Series - Cast Iron Boiler
The Series 5B boiler offers the capacities and features that make it ideal for commercial, institutional, and multi-family heating applications, where the simplicity of an atmospheric design is desired. The rear outlet drafthood is specifically designed for installation involving low ceiling heights. Shipped as a knocked-down unit, the Series 5B allows for maximum maneuverability into the boiler room. The boiler is also available with factory-assembled sections. The Series 5B boiler was specifically designed to use a low-profile drafthood, so it will fit easily into basements and boiler rooms that have low ceilings. Because the Series 5B uses controls that are commonly available in most HVAC and plumbing warehouses, it is easier to service and maintain than the more sophisticated forced-draft type boilers. However, the Series 5B is available with optional Low-High-Off, Low-High-Low, and Modulating firing sequences, for those applications where efficiency and advanced control capability are required.
